Dermaplaning

This no-downtime procedure exfoliates the skin and removes peach fuzz hair on the face. This improves product penetration and enhances any facial or laser treatments designed for your specific needs. Your skin will feel soft and luminous. This is the gentlest way to accomplish anti-aging and has zero downtime.

During dermaplaning, your aesthetician uses a sterile blade to gently and carefully remove dead skin and facial hair. A mild chemical peel can be added to enhance results and get a lasting glow.

How to Prepare for Your Appointment

  • Don’t exfoliate for at least 1 week before your dermaplaning appointment to avoid excess irritation and potential damage to your skin.

  • Avoid sun exposure. Wear a hat and/or sunblock when outside in the week before your appointment.

  • If you have any cuts or other facial wounds, including acne lesions, reschedule your appointment. Dermaplaning could worsen or infect those wounds.

  • Don’t wax, pluck or use hair removal creams on your face in the week before dermaplaning. This could lead to irritation.

Dermaplaning Treatment Steps

Your treatment will vary depending on whether you are receiving a light or medium chemical peel. General steps include:

  1. Cleansing - Removal of any makeup, dirt or other impurities from the outer layer of your skin.

  2. Dermaplaning - Your aesthetician will hold a sterile blade in one hand and hold your skin taut with the other. They will carefully shave upwards across your face, removing dead skin and fine hairs.

  3. Mask - A mask is applied to stimulate skin healing and protect the fresh layer of skin. This mask can be customized to your needs.

  4. Serums - After mask removal, appropriate serums are applied to give you an added glow.

Dermaplaning FAQ

Am I a candidate for dermaplaning?

The clients who will see the best dermaplaning results have dry, rough or uneven skin, or want to address anti-aging with a quick and completely noninvasive procedure. Dermaplaning can also help improve shallow scars, fine lines and mild hyperpigmentation.

Is dermaplaning painful? Will my skin get cut?

There is no discomfort involved - the blade is scraped gently across your face. There is little risk of the skin being cut when dermplaning is performed by a trained professional. If there are any cuts, they are tiny due to the light pressure and small blade, and heal quickly.

Why is professional dermaplaning better than home dermaplaning?

In-office dermaplaning is performed by a trained aesthetician who has significant experience performing the procedure. Dermaplaning at home opens you up to much greater risks of cutting yourself or otherwise damaging your skin. You’ll also be able to receive personalized recommendations, masks, peels, and home products after your professional dermaplaning appointment. Try it for yourself to discover the difference!
