Masseter Botox

You already know that Botox is the top choice to relax wrinkles for smoother, younger looking skin. But did you know it can do much, much more?

With strategically placed masseter Botox injections, you can actually make your face look thinner by slimming the look of your jawline.

And for those with headaches, TMD, or tooth grinding issues? Masseter Botox can be your answer, too.

What is Masseter Botox?

Masseter Botox is a specific application of Botox to contour the jawline. The masseter muscle is the muscle responsible for jaw and teeth clenching. Excessive tension in this muscle can lead to a broader facial appearance.

Botox is carefully injected into the masseter muscle to relax this clenching action. Unlike chin or jawline fillers, which increase volume in this area, relaxation of this muscle has a different effect. The effect is a softer, slimmer-looking jawline that can subtly change the shape and appearance of your face

What to Expect

Like other neuromodulator injections, the Masseter Botox is straightforward, non-invasive, and quick. Here’s what you can expect during your visit:

Consultation

Before beginning, we will assess your concerns and goals. If you are unsure whether masseter Botox is the correct treatment for you, we can discuss your options and what results you can expect.

Treatment

Using an extremely fine needle, the Botox is administered into the masseter muscle in several small injections. Numbing cream can be applied to minimize injection discomfort. The procedure itself only takes about 15–30 minutes.

Post-Treatment

Following the procedure, you can expect to bounce right back to your everyday life. While it takes about one to two weeks for full effects to show, many patients begin noticing results within a few days.

Masseter Botox FAQs

How does masseter Botox work?

By injecting Botox into the masseter muscle, it relaxes the muscle’s clenching action. This reduces teeth grinding, jaw clenching, and tension, while also reducing the muscle’s appearance, leading to a slimmer jawline over time.

Who is a good candidate for masseter Botox?

This treatment is ideal for individuals experiencing TMJ pain, tension headaches caused by jaw clenching, or those wanting to slim their facial structure with a minimally invasive, easy treatment.

What’s better, chin filler or masseter Botox?

These two procedures both treat the jawline but can have very different effects. While fillers are used to add volume and define a jawline, master Botox is more applicable if you wish to soften a strong jawline. If you are unsure, talk to an experienced injector to determine which is better for your goals.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are minimal and typically include slight tenderness, bruising, or swelling at the injection site. These effects usually resolve within a few days.

How long does masseter Botox last?

Results usually last between 4 to 9 months. Regular treatments are recommended to maintain ongoing benefits.

Will masseter Botox affect my ability to chew?

No, the treatment specifically targets overactive masseter muscles and the effects are cosmetic only, so you’ll still be able to chew and enjoy your meals as usual.
